Jim Blew
Director

Jim Blew is the Director of Student Success California—a tax-deductible advocacy organization affiliated with 50CAN, the 50-State Campaign for Achievement Now. Jim was national President of StudentsFirst from late 2014, when StudentsFirst’s founder Michelle Rhee announced her retirement, until mid-2016, when he helped merge StudentsFirst and 50CAN into a single national network. For nearly a decade starting in 2005, Jim served as the Walton Family Foundation’s Director of K‑12 Reform, where he advised the Walton family as they invested to create high-quality school options in low-income communities across the country. Before committing himself full-time to education reform, Jim worked at political and communications firms in New York and California. He holds a BA from Occidental College and an MBA from the Yale School of Management.
